Mutheu Muna-Mwaniki

CEO

As part of the founding team of Trianum Hospitality, I was initially responsible for legal compliance, human resource management and projects and technical services. I regularised initial company registration and subsequently transitioned to LLP structure for tax efficiency. I transitioned the human resource function from an outsourced service to an in-house operation with 3 team members. Lastly, I set up and managed the project management team that has provided technical and pre-opening services to 25 new hotel projects over 10 years, including the first branded, award-winning extended stay hotel in Kenya.

As CEO I am responsible for developing strategy, financial planning and outcomes, client relations, planning and team leadership. Primary responsibility for business development, negotiating client engagements, development of strategy and managing board meetings. Over the last three years the company has achieved its highest annual turnover, the highest annual average occupancy and highest pre-tax profit. Latest achievements include leading the migration to a new ICT platform to improve cross-functional connectivity and improve data analytics, as well as achieving the 9 month post-COVID recovery strategy in 6 months.

It’s an amazing conference. It’s a privilege to be among the leaders of this industry. It’s great for networking - I just had an interesting conversation with one of the GCC leaders and I think we will be concluding some new acquisitions and new developments.
